Description
============
This package contains the utilities and binaries for upgrading firmware (boot code, PXE, UEFI, iSCSI, NCSI, FCoE and CCM code) on HP Ethernet networking adapters (QLogic NX2 controller based) connected to supporting Proliant servers running supported VMware platform.

Enhancements/Fixes
===================
 - Enhancements Description:
   - Add support to convert 'HP FlexFabric 10Gb 2-port 533FLR-T Adapter' into a Converged Network Adapter.
   - Add support for 'HPE StoreFabric CN1100R-T Converged Network Adapter' & 'HPE NPAR CN1100R-T Converged Network Adapter'

 - Fixes Description:
  - Fixes an issue where the Boot from SAN in Legacy mode fails (hang observed during OS boot)
    because the FCoE ROM doesn't correctly honor the link status set by the Virtual Connect Manager.
  - Fixes an issue where UEFI FCoE boot path sends false notification to MFW (Management Firmware) about
    the virtual function link change which eventually results in a deadlock with virtual link down.
  - Fixes an issue where the fallback Boot from SAN fails even though each port is mapped to different
    Virtual Connect Bays and only one of the bays is powered off.
  - Fixes an issue where the Smartlink function does not work properly in FCoE SAN boot environment
    when server 'Boot Mode' is 'Legacy BIOS Mode'.
  - Fixes an issue where the FCOE UEFI driver is unable to find LUNs, when multiple FCOE VLANs are enabled.

Introduction
============
This file describes the firmware upgrade of HP Gigabit Server Adapters mentioned in the PRODUCTS AFFECTED section of this document.

User guides and additional HP Network Adapter information can be found at:
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/networking/index-nic.html

Packaging
=========
The firmware upgrade utility is released in scexe format. The file is a single self-extracting executable that unpacks the component, runs it, and
cleans up.

Performing the Firmware Upgrade
===============================
Off-line:
-------
SPP Off-line mode boots a special Linux OS environment, thus the Linux Smart Components are used, not the VMware Smart Components

Remote On-line: If the component is supported by HP SUM but is not yet part of an SPP:
---------------
Download the appropriate SPP
Add the component to the SPP
Mount the SPP on a remote server running Windows or Linux that has a network connection to the ESXi host to be updated
Run HP SUM
Add the ESXi host to be updated as a remote target/node
Enter IP or DNS address of the ESXi host to be updated
Enter the ESXi host credentials (root or administrator username and password)
For HP SUM 6.0 and newer, select both the Additional Package with the added component and the SPP Baseline on the node Inventory page.
Follow HP Smart Update Manager Steps to complete the firmware update
Refer to the SPP documentation for detailed instructions at:www.hp.com/go/spp

To use HP Insight Control for vCenter:
-------------------------------------
Log in to the vSphere Client
Select a server or cluster in the inventory tree
Click the HP Insight Management tab
Follow Insight Control for vCenter steps to update firmware using a Smart Component

To update firmware from VMware ESXi operating system on target server:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
 - Enable Tech Support Mode on the ESXi host
 - Login as root. (You must be root in order to apply the update)
 - Place the Smart Component zip file in a temporary directory
 - Unzip the file CPXXXXXX.zip
 - Ensure that CPXXXXXX.vmexe is executable by using the command:
 - chmod  +x  CPXXXXXX.vmexe
 - From the same directory, execute the Smart Component. For example: ./CPXXXXXX.vmexe
 - Follow the directions given by the Smart Component
 - Logout
 - Disable Tech Support Mode on the ESXi host

Firmware Upgrade Log
====================
Results of the firmware upgrade are written to /var/cpq/CPxxxxxx.log.

Important Information
======================
1) The Device ID in NPAR (NIC Partitioning) mode is different over the DID used for Flex10, or (forced) Single Function mode. Accordingly adapters with DID 0x168E
and 0x16A2 changes to 0x16AE and 0x16A4 respectively after enabling NPAR.
